Veterans Memorial
War Monument Submissions
Veterans Memorial Park honors all of those who have served our country, and now a new plaza in that park honors our South Holland veterans by name.
The village has completed the Veterans Memorial Plaza at Veterans Memorial Park, which includes a new pond with a fountain, rock outcroppings, new landscaping, and an extended walking path.
As part of this project, we developed a monument in honor of our veterans. The monument was dedicated on Memorial Day, May 30, 2011.
The monument recognizes the following wars and the names of current and former South Holland residents who served during times of conflict: World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Operation Desert Storm (Persian Gulf), Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan), Operation Iraqi Freedom, other conflicts, such as Panama, Bay of Pigs, Jordan and Grenada, and served in peacetime.
Names will be updated every five years. The next update of the monument is scheduled for Spring 2020.
