Electrical Commission
Meets as needed at the Planning & Development Office.
Members serve a 1 Year Term.
Mission Statement: Recommend safe and practical standards and specifications for the installation, alteration and use of electrical equipment designed to meet the necessities and conditions the prevail in the Village; reasonable rules and regulations governing the issuance of permits, as provided for by the electrical inspection department; reasonable fees to be paid for the inspection by the electrical inspection department of all electrical equipment installed or altered within the Village.

Equity Assurance Commission
Meets as needed at Village Hall.
Members serve a 3 Year Term.
Mission Statement: The mission of the Equity Assurance Commission is to insure the single-family residences in the Village of South Holland against the possibility of economic loss, and thereby help to eliminate the irrational fears of racial change. The purpose of the program is not to insure against a regional or national decline in values in the single-family housing market. In the event of a general economic decline in the value of single-family homes in the Chicago-Cook County Metropolitan area single-family home market, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of South Holland reserves the right to review, revise and suspend payments under the Equity Assurance Program.

Fire Pension Board
Meets quarterly at Village Hall.
Mission Statement: The Board is charged with the responsibility of establishing and administering the firefighters’ fund, for the benefit of its firefighters and of their surviving spouses, children and certain other dependents.
One member elected by retired firefighters, two members elected by current firefighters, two members appointed by the Mayor.

Flood Control Liaison Committee

Members serve a 1 Year Term.
Mission Statement: Develop flood control programs as well as flood control alternatives. The Flood Committee reviews a variety of possible floodplain management measures in five general categories: flood control, property protection, emergency services, regulations, and post-flood mitigation.

Mediation and Reconciliation Commission

Mission Statement: Assist residents in settling conflicts voluntarily by employing the techniques of mediation and conciliation. The goal is to resolve conflicts through peaceful means as a preferable alternative to litigation, disruption or other adversarial actions.

Neighborhood Groups Organizing Committee

Mission Statement: To initiate, organize and publicize neighborhood groups for the purpose of bringing people together, establishing dialogue, and maintaining the Village of South Holland values in order to improve neighborhoods and our community, and enhance communication with the Village government.

Park Advisory Committee

Mission Statement: Advise the Recreational Services Department in ways to provide meaningful and safe recreational experiences through a variety of programs and facilities, creating a sense of well being and opportunities for enrichment among all participants.

Planning and Development Commission
Meets the 1st Wednesday of every month at 7:00pm at Village Hall.
Members serve a 4 Year Term.
Mission Statement: Prepare and recommend to the Village Board of Trustees a comprehensive plan of public improvements with an eye on present and future development or redevelopment in the Village. Such a plan includes requirements in reference to streets, alleys, ways for public service facilities, parks, playgrounds, school grounds and other public grounds. The Commission prepares and recommends to the Board of Trustees from time to time such changes in the plan and/or specific improvements to the plan.

Youth Commission
Meets the 1st Saturday of every month at 9:00am at the Faith Family Future Center.
Members serve a 1 Year Term.
Mission Statement: Recognizing the importance of positive opportunities for South Holland youth in all areas of life and personal development, the South Holland Youth Commission is committed to compiling and disseminating timely and accurate information on the broad range of opportunities and services available with the various groups and organizations in South Holland. They work along side of the South Holland Youth Task Force. This is intended to be a community resource for youth and parents. The commission will bring focus to the importance of the availability of excellent youth activities and services. It will emphasize the availability of existing opportunities, and create an awareness of the need for improvement in, or the creation of new opportunities.
