The Village of South Holland would like to remind residents of our winter weather ordinances during these winter months:
Snow Ordinance and Street Parking:
The Village’s snow ordinance calls for the removal of automobiles from local streets after a snowfall of two inches or more. Residents are asked to cooperate so that plowing may be completed without hindrance.
Removing Snow from Driveways and Sidewalks:
When clearing snow from your driveways and sidewalks, do not place snow in the street. Placing snow to the right of your driveway will minimize the amount that may get plowed back into your driveway.
Clear Snow and Ice from Fire Hydrants:
Please clear snow and ice from an area of at least 3 feet around fire hydrants. Also make a clear path from the hydrant to the street. This helps keep it quickly accessible to the fire department in the event of a fire.
Tree Branch & Yard Waste Pick-up suspended until Spring:
Tree branch pick-up ended on October 31, and will resume April 1.
Yard Waste pick-up ended on November 30, and will resume April 1.
Yard Waste toters may be used for regular garbage from now until March 31.
CAN YOU PROVIDE A LIST OF PEOPLE LICENSED FOR RESIDENTIAL SNOW REMOVAL IN SOUTH HOLLAND?

I recommend that you contact the Department of Planning, Development & Code Enforcement to inquire of a list of contractors for snow removal. The phone number is 708-210-2915. I am not sure that snow removal contractors are required to be licensed in the village, but they would be required to apply for a business license. Hope this helps.
Several people on my block have blown their snow onto the street, making it very hard for a regular car to drive through. 160th and Ellis. Will the plows come through again? Also, is there a way to alert the village of these close violators? I worked very diligently with my snowblower not to throw the snow onto the street.
