South Holland Police Chief and Officers Share and Care
For Local Residents This Holiday Season
The Village of South Holland Police Department held its fifth annual Sharing and Caring program on Wednesday, December 20. Since the 2013 holiday season, South Holland police, with the help of local school districts, have selected several families in need of support. School officials, with the approval of parents, then provide students’ age, gender, and clothing size.
Police officers, through their personal contributions, purchased toys and clothing for the school age children, and in previous years, have even provided totes filled with food for the families to enjoy a holiday fest. Also in previous years, South Holland police arranged for Santa Claus to make a personal visit to hand out toys to the children who were selected for the annual Sharing and Caring event.
South Holland Police’s Sharing and Caring Program recently caught the attention of Universal Dental, that has already made a monetary contribution for the planned 2018 giveaway. Officers expect to continue this tradition for many years to come.
“I am exceptionally proud of our officers who demonstrate outstanding leadership, integrity and care for less fortunate families in need of support during the holiday season. I am honored to serve as their police chief and to work with them on this annual initiative.” – Shawn Staples, Police Chief
