On November 29, Kyle Powers, a 7th grader at Calvin Christian School (CCS), took 1st place in Calvin’s school-level geography bee competition. Due to Kyle’s success, he was chosen as a competitor for the state-level National Geographic Bee.
“This is historic, this has never happened in my experience at CCS – a student making it to State!” stated Randy Moes, Principal at Calvin Christian School.
Kyle will be participating in the Illinois State Geography Bee on April 6. If he succeeds at the state level, he will advance to the National Geographic Bee Championship held in Washington D.C. May 20-23. However, the competition is tough: only one champion from each state and territory will advance to the national level.
